Structural Steel Fire Protection Intumescent coating, hydrocarbon-solvent-based can achieve up to 120 minutes fire protection when applied by airless spray or by hand application to structural steel. Class 0 and Class 1 Protection to timber can be provided by intumescent clear varnish and paint systems
Structural Steel Cladding Proper cladding of structural steel can preserve the stability of a building for up to 4 hours – depending on the specification of the building, a period that can be vital in saving both life and property.
The fire that spreads is the fire that destroys. The creation of fire-resistant compartments enables control by sub-dividing. It is also important to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through concealed spaces in the structure.
Intumescent pipe collars and wraps expand to many times their original size when attacked by fire, preventing the spread of fire and smoke through compartment walls and floors and providing up to 4 hours of fire resistance. |
